Caren Weinstein
Caren Weinstein (of Vintage Designing Co.) holds the designation of Registered Graphic Designer (RGD) and Certified Design Professional (CDP) She has been in the field since 1985 and started VDC in 1987. No stranger to embracing new technology she started right at the beginning using the Mac when it came out and learned quickly.Her business evolved to include trade show exhibit design and fabrication as well as signage fro major clients and conferences.
When COVID hit, Caren realized a dream of starting a creative side hustle. A lot of thought and research was done and then her creative juices started to flow. It was a segment on Ask this Old House where she saw a unique piece of machiner that was an "ah ha" moment. With a lot of creative scenarios, she was able to outfit her home workshop with the basic tools and got to work Her work has a creative flair. One of her specialties is higher end raised pet feeders made out of various hardwoods. All of her work shows well designed thought and the pieces are utilitarian as well as beautiful.This will be her second full year doing shows and she is slowly building up her side hustle brand. Customers stop in their tracks when they see her work. All of the positive comments and repeat customers bode well for her second fledgling business. On the drawing board are some cool small dog beds. Offerings include hardwood and resin coasters, Danish-style Baltic birch plywood hangers; a variety of unique ornaments; aromatic cedar disks for moth prevention; and gorgeous charcuterie boards that are works of art. Nothing gets wasted and with scrap she has some lovely bottle openers. Butter spreaders and butter boards with a unique twist and small furniture items like benches and side tables. Her creative brain is constantly designing new items and she looks forward to making a huge splash this market
